Pacer Taskin starts
rehabilitation

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed began his rehabilitation yesterday in a bid to come back in the international cricket as soon as possible.
Bangladesh bowling coach Heath Streak prepared a guideline for the young pacer and set a work plan for his convenient. Streak however would fly to his country Zimbabwe on April 1 and there is speculation that he may not return as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to set his future.
Mahbub Ali Zaki, the high performance and Bangladesh aged level coach, will work with Taskin for the time being in absence of Streak. Zaki was also given the guideline by Streak as to how the rehabilitation programme of the bowler will be going on.
Taskin however looked confident on the first day of the rehabilitation, shrugging off the initial mental trauma.
“I am quite confident to comeback as early as possible. The rehabilitation programme has been started. So hope for the best,” Taskin said.
Taskin was temporarily suspended from bowling in the international cricket along with Arafat Sunny after Bangladesh’s qualifier match against Netherlands in the World T20. Both of them gave a bowling test in Chennai and were banned by ICC.
While Bangladesh didn’t have any reservation about the bowling of Arafat Sunny, they were utterly displeased by Taskin’s ban.
Bangladesh raised a point that Taskin didn’t bowl any bouncer in that particular match against Netherlands whereas the independent bowling analysis found his bouncer illegal. He was asked to deliver nine bouncers of which three were illegal.
Losing Taskin in the main event was a severe blow for Bangladesh and they never recovered from the mental trauma. Bangladesh eventually ended the main draw of the World T20 with four straight defeats. They came close to win the match against Australia and India but couldn’t wrap it up successfully. The one-run defeat to India however would haunt Bangladesh for many days as they couldn’t make required two runs in the last three balls and instead lost three wicket at a stretch.
