Three people alleged to be arsonists were arrested yesterday by the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) with twenty five live petrol bombs, fifteen cocktails, eight cell phones and ten SIM cards in Kanaipur area under Kotwali police station of the district, reports BSS. According to the RAB sources, acting on secret information RAB arrested them from Kanaipur area who were standing by the side of Dhaka-Khulna highway for going to Dhaka. The arrested people were identified as Anisur Rahman Talukdar Khokon, 39, a former Jatiyotabadi Chattradal central leader hailing from Dashar of Madaripur, Mohammad Ali Bhuiya, 28 of Gendaia, Dhaka and Sohag Ghazi, 29 hailing from Khulna. RAB also recovered Tk 6,000 cash from their possession. They were carrying the bombs in plastic bags to create panic by arson attacks during the holy month of Ramzan in the capital as they confessed to RAB.RAB handed them over to Kotwali police along with recovered materials for taking necessary legal proceedings. The operation team was led by additional police super Md Khaleduzzaman.
