Police rescued a schoolgirl from Faridganj upazila of Chandpur on Monday night, two days after her abduction from Raipur upazila of Laxmipur district. The rescued girl was identified as Samia Akhter, of Keroa village in Raipur upazila and a Class-IX student of RN High School of the area. Family sources said criminals dragged Samia into a microbus at gunpoint on June 13 while she was going to school. On June 14 victim’s father filed a case with Raipur police against five people, including Jalal Ahmed Sabuj, 25, of Eklaspur in Faridganj upazila. On secret information, police launched a drive at Eklaspur on Monday night and rescued the girl, said OC of Raipur police M Abdullah Al Mamun. They also arrested Sabuj, the OC said.
