BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman yesterday sent a legal notice to Prime Minister’s Political Adviser HT Imam for making 'derogatory' remarks against him and his mother Khaleda Zia, reports UNB.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal, on behalf of Tarique who is now staying in London, sent the legal notice by post.
Kaiser said HT Imam termed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia ‘lady Laden’, and claimed that Tarique Rahman made several meetings with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan.
He also claimed that they were creating militancy in the country and trying to put the government in an awkward situation, the lawyer said.
His remarks were baseless, fabricated and ill-motivated which were made to tarnish the image of Tarique Rahman politically and socially, the lawyer said.
HT Imam will have to prove the allegations or seek pardon to Tarique Rahman in public in two weeks, he said adding that they would take recourse to law if the notice goes unheeded in two weeks.
