The cabinet yesterday approved the draft of ‘The National Industrial Policy, 2016’ to attract more investment in the country. The approval was given at the weekly cabinet meeting held at the secretariat yesterday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair. After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters that the draft industrial policy is going to be prepared updating the existing National Industrial Policy, 2010. The cabinet also approved the draft of ‘The Prime Minister's Education Assistance Trust (Amendment) Law, 2016’. The Cabinet Secretary also informed that a draft of ‘The Cantonments Law, 2016’ was placed at Monday’s cabinet meeting, but it was returned to the ministries concerned. The cabinet was apprised of the participation of a Bangladesh delegation led by the state minister for ICT division in the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain on February 22-25.
