Mother, daughter killed in road crash

A woman and her three-year-old daughter were crushed to death by a bus at Baghapara Bus Stand in sadar upazila of the district yesterday. The deceased were identified as Ranu Khatun, 25, wife of Jahanggir Hussain, and their daughter Jakiya Sultana, hailing from Thengamara village of Sadar upazila. Aslam Ali, inspector (Investigation) of sadar police station, said the two were waiting for a bus at Baghapara Bus Stand at around 3.30pm when a Dhaka-bound coach of Saikat Paribahan hit them leaving Jakiya dead on the spot. Critically injured Ranu died on the way to hospital. Local people have detained the bus at Matidali intersection following the accident.  A case has been filed with sadar police station in this connection, said Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge of sadar police station.
