XINHUA, YANGON: Jade continues as a potential export item of Myanmar, the ministry of commerce said yesterday.
Jade is included in the potential export items from nine regions and states in Myanmar. Among the 41 export items of agricultural products, jade is the only jewel on the list.
Myanmar Jade is mainly exported to China and India. China is the biggest purchaser of Myanmar’s jade.
The total of jade export for the fiscal year 2014-2015 reached 986.64 million U.S. dollars while it stood at 1.01 billion U.S. dollars for the previous fiscal year.
Jade remained as the second largest export item of Myanmar for both fiscal years.
