Stocks rebound on higher activities

Stocks closed yesterday higher as buyers were comparatively active that also drove prices of most of the traded issues up. All the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finished the session in green though with marginal gains, reports BSS.
DSEX, the broader index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), closed the session at 4442.15, gaining by 11.86 points when the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES finished flat in green at 1691.59 and 1079.16 respectively.
Similarly, the broader CSCX index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended nearly 19 points higher at 8304.82. The majority of the issues traded on the twin stock exchanges closed higher, with 150 issues gaining on DSE and 114 issues advancing on CSE.
The number of losing issues on DSE was 110 and that of on CSE was 78.
Market analysts said the moderately increased activities drove the prices up of the large number securities.
“The stock market put in a generally strong session yesterday, helped by solid buying in the afternoon. The financial and consumer stocks led the way higher, as investors seem to be back with renewed buying interest on these stocks”, said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
On DSE, the daily trade value rose by 26.42 per cent to Tk 430.69 crore and the volume
increased by 21.87 per cent to 14.33 crore shares. On CSE, the trade value was Tk 24.95 crore for 94.99 lakh shares.
All the major sectors including bank, food & allied, textile and NBFI increased while cement and fuel & power decreased.
The major gaining issues were Tung Hai Knitting, Eastern Lubricants, BSRM
Limited, Paramount Textile Limited and Golden Harvest Agro Industries. Prime Life, Orion Infusion, Alltex Iindustries, AFC Agro and Olympic Accessories were the day’s major lagging securities.
Keya Cosmetic topped the turnover list followed by Beximco Pharma, Emerald Oil, BSRM Limited and Squire Pharma.
