Digital pre-registration for Hajj pilgrims opens

E-Hajj system, the digital pre-registration for this years intending Hajj pilgrims, was inaugurated yesterday, reports UNB. Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman opened the process at the secretariat. Talking to reporters, the minister said the digital pre-registration will formally begin on March 23 and continue till May 30. He also said although the deadline is May 30, the e-Hajj system will automatically stop taking registrations after it reaches the 101,758 mark, which is the total number of pilgrims allowed to perform Hajj from Bangladesh this year.
As per the rules of this years pre-registration, pilgrims going under the government arrangement would have to pay Tk 30,000 for the pre-registration process, whereas those going under the private agencies Tk 30,752 in advance.
They will have to pay the remaining amount by May 30 to complete their registration process. If a pilgrim cannot go to Hajj despite completing the registration process, they will receive an amount of Tk 28,000 in refund.
The interested people can apply by going to any of the union digital centres, deputy commissioners offices, Religious Affairs Ministry and Islamic Foundation for the pre-registration.
Those interested in going under the private arrangement need to go to government-approved Hajj agencies, where they will be given a unique user identification and password from the ministry.
For Bangladesh Hajj agencies, their minimum quota for accommodating pilgrims is 150 per agency.The staff who will be supervising the process have undergone intensive training, the minister said adding that the software developed by the IT firm has been made accessible for their use.
