The government appointed SM Abul Kalam, a leader of the ruling Awami League, as the country’s next Ambassador to Kuwait. Kalam is currently the Vice President of Chittagong (South) Awami League, a Foreign Ministry press release said yesterday. According to the release, he is a renowned business person, social worker and a well-known political figure. In his career, Kalam served as the President of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Director of Agrani Bank and a Member of Chittagong Stock Exchange. He was also a member of the Chittagong Development Authority. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dhaka.
