Jamaat leader arrested

Mymensingh: Police arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami from Khamar Bazaar area in Muktagachha upazila of the district on Saturday, reports BSS. The arrestee was identified as Maulana Abdullah Mohammad Mujahid, 45, ameer of Jamaat Tarati union unit and treasurer of Muktagachha upazila unit of Jamaat. Police arrested him when he was distributing posters in Khamar Bazaar area, said Abu Mohammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge of Muktagachha Police Station. Mujahid, also an assistant teacher of Padurbari High School in Muktagachha, was wanted in three cases including arson attack lodged with Muktagacha Police Station, the OC said. Police sent him to jail this morning after producing before the court.
