A farmer was killed allegedly by his neighbours following the dispute over irrigating crop lands at Ponerarashia village in Shibganj upazila yesterday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim, 50, son of Abdul Malek of the aforesaid area. OC of Shibganj thana MM Moinul Islam said as one Ekramul Hoque of the area tried to install a shallow power pump on the land of Abdul Karim for irrigating his crop land he was prevented by the farmer. At one stage of heated arguments Ekramul Hoque and his men hit Abdul Karim with sticks and a spade killing him on the spot at around 11-30 am.
Police from Shibganj thana came to the spot and sent the body to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
