MUNSHIGANJ: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive seized 720-kg of jatka (small hilsa fish) and 20,000-metre current net from a launch on the Meghna river in Gazaria upazila of the district on Wednesday, reports BSS. Acting on a tip-off, a team of coast guard halted a Dhaka-bound launch ‘MV Jamal-1’ and seized the jatka and current net searching the launch, Coast Guard sources said. However, the fish traders fled the scene sensing the presence of the Coast Guard members. Later, the seized jatka were distributed among poor people and the current net was destroyed.
