Munshiganj: Four members of River Police were injured as their trawler capsized in the Dhaleshwari River at Muktarpur in Sadar upazila after being hit by a lighterage ship on Wednesday night, reports UNB.
Three firearms of police also went missing in the incident. Additional police super of the district Abdul Halim said a four-member team of Muktarpur river police camp was patrolling the river in a trawler.
However, the vessel sank near Shah Cement Factory around 8:45pm after the Chandpur-bound lighterage ship hit it.
The four policemen jumped into the river and managed to swim ashore, Muktarpur river police camp in-charge sub-inspector Yunus Ali said, adding that they received injuries in the incident.
They also lost three shotguns in the incident.
