Schoolgirl killed in Madhupur

A schoolgirl, who was attacked and injured by her cousin brother on Wednesday, died at Madhupur Health Complex in Tangail yesterday. She was identified as Mousomi Akhter, 10, daughter of Mofiz Uddin of Laufula village and a student of class-VI at Gangair Ahmed Ali High School in Madhupur upazila. Mousomi’s father said the incident happened after a goat belonging to him ate up aubergine plant of his elder brother Rafiz Uddin on Wedensday. A sequel to the incident quarrel erupted between Mousomi and Rafiz’s son Sujan, 24, and his wife Asma, 20.  At one stage, Sujan hit Mousomi’s head with a stick, leaving her injured seriously.  She was admitted to Madhupur hospital where she succumbed to her injuries yesterday morning. Shafiqul Islam, OC of Madhupur Police Station, said Mofiz Uddin filed a case implicating Sujan, Asma, Rafiz Uddin and his wife, who are now absconding. Police is trying to arrest the alleged killers.
