Architecture symposium
Bengal Institute for Architecture, Landscapes and Settlements will organize an international architecture symposium “Architecture Now! Next” in association with Bengal Foundation, from today to March 20 at the auditorium of Krishibid Institution Bangladesh, Dhaka, says press release.
On the first day, the event will start at 3pm. For the following two days, the session starts in the morning, at 9am and will continue to 5:30 pm. Speakers will be sharing their work and ideas for an hour followed by panel discussions.
Case filed over killing man
A case was filed accusing five people, including Jomshed Seraj, a local Juba League leader with Kotwali police station in Sylhet, in connection with Bikol, 22, killing in the city’s Rainagar area on Tuesday night.
Bishwjit Roy, elder brother of Bikol Roy, filed the case against Jomshed, Suman, KAbir Ahmed, Rubel Das and Jubel Miah on Wednesday night, said Sohel Ahmed, officer in charge of Kotwali police station. Earlier, Bikol Roy was beaten to death by Jomshed Seraj and his associate for protesting against the stalking a niece of Bikol by Sumon.
Body recovered in Barisal
Police recovered the body of a youth from Chhoigram College area under Agailjhara upazila of the district on Wednesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Sahen Shah Khan, 25, son of Farhad Khan of South Palrodi village under Gournadi upazila of the district. He went missing four days ago. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and recovered the floating body from a ditch of the area. We are conducting investigation into the matter, said officer-in-charge M Monirul Islam.
7 held with firearms, phensidyl
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate drives arrested seven people, including arms dealer, with three pistols, four magazines, 22 bullets and 1,400 bottles of phensidyl from different areas in the capital. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP’s media wing Sardar Maruf Hossain confirmed the news saying, “A truck and a private car were also seized from their possession.” Details will be informed later, he added.
‘Mugger’ held with knife
A listed ‘mugger’ was held along with a knife in the city’s Shaporan Mazar area of Sylhet yesterday. The arrestee was identified as Masum Ahmed Juhel, 20, son of late Abdur Rab, a resident of Sunamganj district. Shajalal Munshi, officer in charge of Shaporan police station said, Mazar authority suspected a stranger for his movement in the Mazar area. Later they informed the police. On information police rushed in and arrested the mugger along with knife.
