Birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Children Day celebrated in cities

The 97th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and national Children Day was observed through elaborate programmes including colourful rallies, sports and discussion meetings in Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Rangpur cities yesterday.
In Rajshhai, a colourful rally of children was taken out from at 9:30 am from Rajshahi Model School & College play ground. Hundreds of children, teachers and guardians of various educational institutions of the city participated in the rally.
The function was attended and addressed, among other by former city Mayor and President of Rajshahi city unit AL AHM Khairuzzaman Liton. Along with hundreds of students, Liton cut birthday cake of father of nation.
Rajshahi district administration also observed the 97th birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikhj Mujibur Rahman through various programmes.
Bangladesh Awami League Rajshahi City and the district units also observed the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through releasing balloons, placing of floral wreaths at the portraits of the great leader and through organizing discussion meeting at its Kumarpara party office.
However; improved food was served at Rajshahi central jail,Shishu Sadan in the city on this very auspicious day. Special prayer was offered and milad mahfil was held at various mosques of the city in observance of the day.
Our STAFF REPORTER adds from Khulna:  In the morning, cross section of people placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzibur Rahman built on Bangladesh Betar, Khulna Centre premises in memory of the Bangabandhu.
Khulna city and district unit of Awami League (AL) and its front organisations, district administration, police, cultural organisations, educational institutions also paid tributes to the Father of the Nation by placing floral wreaths at the portrait.
A rally was brought out which paraded different roads of the city carrying big size portrait of Bangbandhu and chanting slogans “Long live Bangladesh.”
OUR STAFF REPORTER REPORTS FROM BARISAL: Barisal district administration with the help of women and children affairs directorate, district Shishu Academy arranged discussion meeting, cultural competition and function, prize giving ceremony held on this occasion.
Speakers and participants of these programmes laid emphasis on grooming the young generation with the noble spirit of patriotism so that they can materialize the cherished dream of Sheikh Mujib of building the country as ‘Sonar Bangla’. District and city unit Awami League organised a meeting to mark the day.
The two days program organized by Bangabandhu Sangkritik Jot ended this noon.
