CHITTAGONG: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Chittagong Metropolitan Traffic Police, north zone, was killed in a road accident at Dhanilapara of Doublemooring thana in the city at 3 pm yesterday.
The victim was identified as Mohammad Hanif, 45, hailed from Brahmanbaria district.
The accident occurred when a locally-made vehicle Tempoo collided with a CNG-run auto rickshaw in the area, leaving auto rickshaw passenger Hanif injured critically.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctors declared him dead, Bashir Ahmed Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Doublemooring thana, said.
Police detained the two vehicles, but drivers and helper managed to flee.
