The Journey of Fazle Rabbi: A makeup artist turns director

Nowadays, when the name Fazle Rabbi comes up, he is synonymous with the words ‘immensely talented’. His volume of work and the quality of his projects speak for themselves. However, life was not what it is for him in the past. As a matter of fact, he faced tumultuous times in his life after the passing of his father. There was a time when he and his mother passed days without a meal. However, he did not give up hope, and believed that his time will come; Rabbi knew that hard work and perseverance always paid off, and he fervently believed that his efforts will not go in vain.
In addition to pursuing his studies, Rabbi took the chance of working with National Film Award winning make-up artist Khalilur Rahman. Then he worked with renowned cinematographer Rashed Zaman and it seemed that his fate was beginning to take a turn for the better. He made his directorial debut with a commercial for Tanjim Jeans. Then he directed commercials for reputable brands, such as Aarong, Bata, Cute Lemon Soap and an Indian perfume brand.
From there, opportunities continued to knock. In 2014, he directed the music video of popular singer Imran’s song ‘Shesh Suchona’ with Imran and Tanjin Tisha. Through that he entered the music industry scene. Then he directed music videos of Ahmed’s ‘Hold Me Down’, Imran Oishee’s ‘Chokh Mele Takale’, Kazi Newaz’s ‘Khuji Phiri  Akash’. He received immense praise for directing the music video of Shoheb and Puja’s ‘Apekkhar Prahor’.
Rabbi also directed a telefilm titled ‘Life is a Meaningless’. However, his dream is to direct a film one day. He directed the thematic commercial for Cute for the ICC Women’s World Cup.
Regarding his journey, Fazle Rabbi shared his experience, “With a lot of hard work, dedication, patience and sacrifice, along with everyone’s support, I have reached where I am. I am especially grateful to Khalilur Rahman and Rashed Zaman. With blessings from the Almighty, I want to continue doing great work.”
