Strict enforcement of Consumers� Rights Protection Law stressed

Strict enforcement of the Consumers’ Rights Protection Law, regular market monitoring and controlled use of antibiotics in agriculture sector could free the people from health hazards saving thousands of human lives, reports BSS.
The views were expressed at a seminar cum discussion organised by Panchagarh district administration at conference room of the Deputy Commissioner in observance of the World Consumers Rights Day-2016 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Department of National Consumer Rights Protection for Panchagarh district extended cooperation in arranging the seminar cum discussion in observance of the day with the theme of ‘Antibiotics off the menu.’
Deputy Commissioner of the sub-Himalayan district Amal Krishna Mandal attended and addressed the seminar cum discussion as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mahmudul Alam in the chair.
Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Laila Muntejari Deena, Sadar upazila Chairman Anwar Sadat Samrat, Mayor of Panchagarh pourashava Tauhidul Islam, District Food Controller Abdul Kader, District Health Education Officer Zia Uddin, addressed among others.
Officials of different government and non-government departments and organisations, public representatives, heads of different educational institutions, business community leaders, civil society members, journalists and local elite were present.
The speakers called for creating mass public awareness along with strict enforcement of the Consumers’ Rights Protection Law to protect the consumers’ rights for saving public health from food poisoning, other contamination and hazards.
The chief guest laid emphasis on making the common citizens as well as business community people for adopting effective measures to ensure healthy atmosphere in the local markets and stop supply of adulterated and poisonous foods.
