Man to die for killing wife

Comilla: A court yesterday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife in 2000, reports UNB.
The condemned convict, Sadek Mia, son of Malu Mia of Chandina upazila, was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, Rokeya Begum was hacked to death by her husband Sadek Mia over dowry at Chansar village in Chandina upazila on June 28, 2000 and her body was recovered from a cannel on July 4.
Sahad Ullah, maternal uncle of Rokeya, filed a case with Chandina Police Station on the following day.
Main Uddin, sub-inspector of Chandina Police Station, submitted a chargesheet against Sadek Mia.
