A man of the Shiite Muslim community was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants in Nimtala area of Kaliganj upazila in Jhenidah on Monday night. The man was identified as Abdur Razzaque, 42, son of late Hashem Ali Khan of Krishi Office Para. The victim was a Shia preacher and a homoepath doctor by profession, said police. Razzaque owned a homeopathic medicine shop named ‘Imam Khomeni Homeo Hall’ at Nimtala bus stand in Kaliganj. He was also a Quran Hafez, said family. US-based SITE intelligence group reported that the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the killing. A tweeter message from the SITE group read “#ISIS claims stabbing Shi'ite preacher Hadith AbdulRazzaq in #Bangladesh. To Shi'ites:"our knives r solid &sharp". Officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station Anwar Hossain said the miscreants stabbed Razzaque while he was returning home from Kaliganj around 10:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot. Later, pedestrians spotted the body and informed the police.
