Teacher suspended for hitting student with duster

In a flagrant defiance of a High Court ban on corporal punishment, a teacher injured a student by hitting him with a duster at a primary school in Kachua upazila of Bagerhat on Monday and faced the music for the offence, reports UNB. Ashok Kumar Samaddar, primary education officer of Bagerhat, said Tushar Kanti Das, teacher of Sangdia Govt Primary School, was suspended as the education office got primary evidence that the teacher injured Jubair Rahman Sheikh, 10, student of Class V, by hitting him with a duster in a class. They will also carry out a departmental investigation against the accused teacher, he added.
