Police have pressed charges against nine people in a case filed in connection with the recovery of 20 kg gold from an electronics warehouse in Chittagong, reports UNB. Inspector of Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police Keshab Chakrabarti submitted a charge-sheet before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court yesterday.
The charge-sheeted accused are M Jasim Uddin and Bhabatosh Biswas Rana, owners of warehouse ‘AC Mela’; Jasim’s brother Emran; Fazlul Hoque, one of the owners of Amin Brothers, Gias Uddin Titu, Farid, Rubel, M Shoeb and Abu Taher.
Being tipped off that gold was being smuggled under the cover electronic accessories in AC Mela, a team of police conducted a raid there on April 8, 2015 and recovered 20 kg of gold.
They also arrested Emran and Titu during the drive.
Later, sub-inspector of Sadarghat Police Station Anwar Hossain filed a case with his police station.
