Fire destroys cotton warehouse

A devastating fire destroyed cotton at a warehouse in Baburhat BSCIC Shilpa Nagari early yesterday.
A cotton-laden truck parked near the warehouse of M/s Dhali Cotton Mills was also burnt down by the fire.
Fire station official Ratan Kumar Nath said all the fire men from two fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the fire. But the origin of fire could not be known immediately, he said.
However, locals said the fire might have been caused by explosion of gas cylinder of the cotton-laden truck.
Noor-e-Alam Dhali, the owner of the mills, said the losses caused by the fire have been estimated at approximately Tk 50 lakh.
