Kapali smashes ton for East Zone

Alok Kapali smashed century as Islami Bank East Zone piled up 442-10 against Prime Bank South Zone on the close of the Day-2 of the sixth and final round clash of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah yesterday.
East Zone resumed the second day at 264-3 and added another 178 runs at exchange of seven wickets. Tasamul Haque missed to stretch his score as he fell for 41 adding just two runs with overnight 39. But Alok Kapali went to hammer his century. On way to 111 off 185, Kapali shared a couple of successful partnerships including 106-run fourth wicket with Tasamul and another 50-run with Yasir Ali for the sixth wicket stand, which crossed 300-run mark.
Finally Kamrul Islam Rabbi (26 not out) together with Iftekhar Sajjad hit 77-run for the ninth wicket, which provided a strong total of 442 for East Zone. Sajjad cracked 70-ball 58 with 11 fours.
Moynul Islam finished with 4-83. Abdur Razzak snapped up three and Sohag Gazi took a brace for South Zone. In reply, South Zone made 101-2 with Shahriar Nafees scoring 36 and Tushar Imran making 23.
Elsewhere, at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Walton Central Zone have still 156 runs to overtake BCB North Zone. Central Zone in first innings put on 222-6 at stumps in response to North Zone’s first innings total of 378.
Resuming the Day-2 at 308-9, North Zone added 70. Dhiman Ghosh and Shafaq Al Zabir hit 77 for the 10th wicket stand. Ghosh put up fifty after Sanzamul Islam (70) and Farhad Hossain (131). He clouted seven fours in his 53 off 97-ball unbeaten knock. Mohammad Shahid took the last wicket and extended his wicket tally to three for 84. In the previous day, Mohammad Sharif showed his second best of 6-105 in first class career. His best bowling figure was 6-24.
In reply, Central Bank made a shoddy start as they lost early two wickets for 44. Rokibul Hasan partnered Marshal Ayub and hit 57-run third wicket. He stitched another 78-run with Shuvagata Hom for the fourth wicket partnership.
Tanvir Haider remained at stumps on 16, while Zabid Hossain was not out one. Mahmudul Hasan chipped in with 3-43.
