Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club suffered their third successive defeat in the AFC Cup when they went down to Selangor FA of Malaysia by 4-3 in a thriller yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Jamal broke the deadlock on 29th minute when Landing Darboe scored a spectacular goal when his 25 yards long range right foot grounder. Jamal despite taking the lead first could not keep it for a long as Selangor equalised it just ten minutes later with Patrick Ronal Dinho headed home as goalkeeper Sohel missed the flight of Olivi free kick on 39th minute (1-1).
Selangor took the lead inside eighth minute when the tall man Patrick edged past defender Linkon with a solo run (2-1).
Sheikh Jamal displayed some of their potency and taking 3-2 lead scoring two goals in a span of two minutes with Emeka Darlington nodding home a cutback of Landing Darboe on 65th (2-2) and captain Wedson superbly beat Selangor goalkeeper on one and one situation when he edged past his markers with a good pace receiving through pass from Jamal Bhuiyan (3-2).
But a disorganized Jamal defense failed to clear an ordinary attack, as Andres Oliver comfortably shot into net to equalize the arrear (3-3) on 70th. Selangor scored the winning goal on 84th minute and dismal performance of goalkeeper Sohel was fully responsible for this as he allowed Oliver to take shot to near post (4-3).
