Body of girl recovered
The body of young girl was recovered from Kirtonkhola River in Dapdapia Ferri Ghat area of Barisal city on Monday evening.
She was identified as Akhi Akter, a third year student of Barisal Nursing Institute. Police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. Police and local sources said that the victim Akhi jumped at Kirtonkhola River from Abdur Rub Serniabad Bridge to commit suicide and she was missing from Saturday morning. Later, her body was found on Monday.
An unnatural death case was filed with Barisal Kotwali Thana in this regard.

3 held with yaba tablets
Police arrested three people along with 300 yaba tablets from No.15 ghat in Patenga area under Patenga Police Station in Chittagong early yesterday.
The arrestees were Md Rasel, 25, Azizur Rahman, 31, and Md Jashim, 21.
Acting on tip-off, police arrested them along with 300 yaba tablets. During primary interrogation, the arrestees confessed their involvement in drug peddling, said Alamgir Mahmud, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patenga police station. A case was lodged against them under Narcotics Control Act and they were produced before court, said the OC.

Construction labourer dies
A construction labourer died and two others injured when a pillar fell on them in Sylhet yesterday morning.
The deceased was Ripon, 35, and the injured were Mehedi Hasan, 27 and Shofikul Islam Mullah, 50, both were the site engineer.  
After the incident, police recovered the body and sent it Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy and injured persons were taken to the same hospital. Shajahan Miah, officer-in-charge of Shaporan police station, confirmed the incident.      

One held with wine in Sylhet
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a man along with 48 bottles Indian wine at Osmani Medical College Hospital on Monday evening. The arrestee was identified as Foyez Ahmed, 24.  
RAB sources said on getting information a team of RAB-9 conducted the drive at Osmani Medical College and arrested him along with wine.    

3 houses gutted in Ctg
At least three dwelling houses were gutted in Patharghata area of Chittagong city on Monday night.
Fire service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit in Baruapara area of Patharghata around 12pm and soon engulfed the surrounding houses.
Six units of fire service from Agrabad and Bandar fire service stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control around 2:50am, Fire Service sources said.
Properties of eight dwelling houses worth about Tk 4 lakh were gutted in the fire, the sources added.
