Bangladesh Ansar topped the medal table in the 34th National Gymnastics Championship. The four-day championship organised by Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation concluded at the NSC Gymnasium in the capital yesterday.
Ansar earn eight gold, seven silver and two bronze medals to bag the top spot in the medals’ table. Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan finised second with four gold, four silver and eight bronze medals. BJMC won the remaining two gold medals. A total of 60 gymnasts drawn from 15 teams too part in the meet.
Noted sports organiser and managing director of Massranga TV Anjan Chowdhury Pintu distributed prizes as chief guest. Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation president Sheikh Bashir Ahmed presided over the closing ceremony.
On the other hand Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) clinched the men’s and women’s team titles respectively. BJMC earned 267.25 points to bag the men’s team gold. Bangladesh Ansar bagged the silver with  235.60 points, while BKSP finished third with 140.55 points.
BKSP’s gymnasts stole the show in the women’s events securing 139.25 points to grab the gold medal. Like the men’s team event, Bangladesh Ansar won the silver with 125.35 points. Dhaka DSA finished a distant third with 37.80 points.
Abul Kalam Azad of BJMC earned the distinction of becoming the best male gymnast with 69.45 points. In fact, Azad earned the feat by showing an average performance in all events although he could not win any individual gold medal. He just won a couple of silver and one bronze medal.
Noor Akhtar Banu of BKSP lifted the women’s individual title with  40. 32 points. She Earned the credit of winning gold medals in balance beam and  floor. She also  bagged a couple of silver medals in un-even bars and vaulting table events.
