NSU 24th anniv celebration programme ends
The closing ceremony of 9-day 24th anniversary celebration programme of North South University (NSU) was held at the university auditorium in the capital on Friday, says a press release. The celebration programme began on March 3, 2016
The ceremony began with a video presentation showing all prime moments of this 9-day celebration. Then the audience experienced a dazzling laser show. After the show, NSU offcially recognized the chief guest MA Kashem, chairman, Board of Trustees, and other life and general members of BOT for their contributionsin in establishing a new era in the private education sector.  Later, an emblem has been given to all board members as a token of appreciation. Among other board members Azim Uddin Ahmed, Mohammed Shajahan, MA Hashem, Benajir Ahmed, Rehana Rahman, Yasmin Kamal, Shah Abdul Hannan were present along with Atiqul Islam, vice-chancellor, NSU and Gour Gobinda Goswami, Treasurer, NSU.

4th convocation of SUB Mar 16
State University of Bangladesh (SUB) is going to hold its 4th convocation at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital on March 16, 2016, says a press release.
On behalf of the President Md Abdul Hamid, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid will preside over and confer the degrees. Professor Abdul Mannan, chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, will be the convocation speaker.
A total of 1855 students, passing between Spring-2014 and Fall-2015 semesters, will be awarded with their degrees in the convocation. Jayera Islam Urmi from the Department of Pharmacy has been nominated for the Chancellor’s Award in this convocation while 15 and 35 students will be awarded with the Vice-Chancellor’s and Dean’s Award respectively.

CU public admin dept celebrates 35th anniv
Public Administration Department of Chittagong University (CU) celebrated its 35th anniversary on the campus on Saturday.
University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Abdul Mannan addressed the anniversary function as the chief guest while CU Vice-Chancellor Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury addressed it as the special guest. To mark the anniversary, the Department chalked out a day-long elaborate programmes including colourful rally, discussion meeting, publishing souvenir and open concert. Hundreds of former students of the department took part in the anniversary. Addressing the function, UGC chairman praised the department and said Public Administration Department of CU is playing a pivotal role in creating worthy citizens. Presided over by the Chairman of the department Sirz-ud-Doula, the function was addressed among others, by Nurul Islam, local government expert Tofayel Ahmed, secretary of civil aviation and tourism ministry Khurshed Alam Chowdhury, lawmakers Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Saimoom Sarwar Komol, and Additional Secretary of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Dildar Ahmed.

Nutrition Club launched at BAU

MYMENSINGH: A new club named ‘Nutrition Club’ was launched at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Saturday.
The launching programme was held at the conference room of the Food Technology and Rural Industries department around 11am.
Bangladesh Institute of ICT in Development (BIID) organised the programme with support from INGENAES a USAID project.

Vice-chancellor Md Ali Akbar attended the programme as chief guest
Md Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO, BIID, Abdulah Iqbal, head of Food Technology and Rural Industries department, Andrea B Bhon, associate director, INGENAES, University of Illinois, USA also attended the programme, among others.
A committee was formed to run the club with Raihan Abedia Antora as president and Akib Abrar as the general secretary and Nushrat Yeasmen as a mentor.

IU Arabic Dept observes silver jubilee

Kushtia: Arabic Language and Literature department of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia observed its 25th anniversary today with festivity on the campus.
Pro-Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman inaugurated the colorful procession around 11 am. The procession paraded the main roads on the campus and ended to central auditorium.
He was present there as the chief guest with Arabic Language department chairman Professor Dr Tozammel Hossain in the chair.
Arts faculty dean Professor Dr Ruhul Amin, founder Chairman of the department Professor Dr Abdul Latif and IUTA President Professor Dr Amtaz Hossain were present while Arabic department Professor Dr Kamrul Hasan and Associate Professor Dr Rofiqul Islam jointly conducted the discussion session.
Later, a cultural programme was held with the participation of the students of the department. The day-long function ended with setting an Alumni Association around 5 pm.
