Speakers at a Job Fair yesterday stressed the need for participation of meritorious students in technical education and giving due social recognition for technically educated persons.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) organised the Job Fair 2016 at Krisibid Institute auditorium in the capital.
“We have to develop our young generation to skilled human resources. In the developed countries more than 50 per cent people are technically skilled at various levels while 6-7 per cent in Bangladesh,” said education secretary Md Sohrab Hossain while addressing the function as the chief guest. He said the government has initiated an expanded technical education programme to develop 20 per cent skilled manpower within 2020 for eliminating unemployment. “Every citizen has to participate in the development activities,” he added. DAM President Kazi Rafiqul Alam said, DAM has so far imparted technical education to 18,219 persons. Among them, 16,070 persons have been provided Job. It is mentionable that with the joint financial assistance of Bangladesh government, World Bank and Canadian government. Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) is being implemented in Bangladesh. Ahsania Mission Vocational Training Institute for Working Children and Ahsania Mission Syed Sadat Ali Memorial Education & Vocational Training Centre is Imparting Technical Education to Disadvantage and School Drop-out Children under STEEP project.
