A case was filed against seven people, including six policemen, yesterday in connection with the murder of two students of Jessore Polytechnic Institute recently, reports UNB. Billal Uddin Sheikh, father of one of the deceased Ismail Hossain, filed the case at the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Ibrahim against sub-inspectors Jamal Uddin, Abdur Rahim Hawladar, Shahidul Islam, Rakibul Islam and Jasim Uddin of Kotoali Model Police Station and Barun Kumar Tarafdar, son of Ranjit Tarafdar, a resident of Chapatala village in Bagharpara upazila. According to the complainant, Ismail and his friend Al-Amin went missing after the duo went to High Court intersection in the evening on May 24. On the very next day, the bodies of Ismail and Al-Amin were identified by their family members at the hospital morgue. Later, Ismail’s father Billal Sheikh came to know that his son and Al-Amin were killed in a mass beating and three cases, including that of murder, were filed against them. However, Billal analysed the local newspapers and found that the duo was killed over a love affair with a Hindu girl. Later, he went to the court to file the case as police refused to record any case, claiming that Barun Kumar abducted and killed Ismail and Al-Amin with the help of the six policemen and represented the incident as a mass beating.
