Khulna: A woman died and two others sustained injuries as a trawler capsized in the Chunkuri River at Chalna Kheya terminal in Dakop upazila yesterday afternoon, reports UNB. The deceased was identified as Saleha Begum, 60, wife of Edu Sana, a resident of Joynagar village of the upazila. Quoting witness, police said the trawler carrying around 40 passengers sank in the river shortly after it started journey for its destination from the ghat area around 1:30pm. Most of the passengers managed to swim ashore. Local people rescued three women from the river and took them to upazila health complex where doctors declared Saleha dead.
