Elderly man beaten dead
An elderly man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbour over a previous enmity at Laxmikathi village in Digholia upazila in Khulna on Friday night.
Quoting witnesses, police said Siraj Nikari, 65, of the village had an enmity with his neighbour Mazid Nikari over the ownership of a fish enclosure.
As a sequel to the enmity, Mazid Nikari along with his sons beat up Siraj mercilessly, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries later, said Rabiul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Digholia Police Station.
Man found dead in Sylhet
Police recovered a body of a young unidentified man aged around 25/26 from the city’s Laldigipar area of Sylhet on Friday night at 8 pm.
Quoting local police said, locals spotted the body which was lying in front of the Rupali Bank at night and informed police. The body bore several injury marks.

1 held with 61 liters liquor
A special team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1 yesterday seized 61 liters liquor and arrested one from Tongi area, said a RAB headquarters release in the capital Friday night.
The arrested was M Nazrul Islam, 35, of ward no-56 of Tongi under Gazipur district.
Another mobile team of RAB-1 sealed off a company and fined Taka 3,50,000 to another company at Majukhan Pashimpara under Jaidebpur for using unauthorised trademarks of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI).
Local weapons seized
Police seized huge amount of local made lethal weapons in the city’s Kadimpara area on Friday afternoon in Sylhet.
Shajalal Munshi, officer in charge of Shaporan police station, said on getting secret information police seized the weapons in an abandoned condition near the pond in the city’s Kadimpara area. We suspect criminal might be kept the weapons for committing the crime, the OC added. We are now investigation into the matter.
