GAZIPUR: An assistant sub-inspector of Hotapara police camp was killed and three other people, two among them policemen, were injured when a truck hit a microbus on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Bhabanipur Shirirchala in Sadar upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Nazmul Islam, sub-inspector of Hotapara police camp, said the accident took place around 4 am when a Mymensingh-bound speeding truck slammed into a microbus, requisitioned for police duty, carrying three policemen, including ASI Harun-or-Rashid 37, from behind, leaving them critically injured.
Later ASI Harun died on way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the two other policemen--- constables Manik Mia, 40, and Abdul Jabbar, 23, and driver of the microbus Faruk Mia,28, were admitted to the hospital.
Highway police also seized the truck and took it to Mawna highway police camp.
