Bangladesh Sports Press Association (BSPA) posted a thrilling nine-run victory over the Indian High Commission in a friendly Twenty20 cricket match at the home of cricket, Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium yesterday.
BSPA won the toss and elected to bat first. Taking advantage of a formidable 43 runs in opening stand of Sadman Sakib and Musa Mukul the winners made a challenging total of 120 runs for nine wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Sadman scored a marvelous 33 off 20 balls while Shaifur accompanied him with 28 off 25 balls.
In reply, Indian High Commission team, just getting rid of an early scare of losing two wicket for 24, made a huge threat to win the match when Kallayan and Ashraf scored 48 runs in third wicket partnership. But tight bowling from Sadman Sakib, Mehdi Hassan Rumel and Shaifur halted the opponents on 111 runs for nine wickets.
Sadman after his prolific batting exhibition also grabbed three wickets conceding only 18 runs in his four overs spell and latter on adjudged the man of the match.
Devenjit Roy, the railway advisor and Norendra Kumar and Ranjan Mondal, the press attaché the of the Indian High Commission were the guest of honour in the friendly match while BSPA president Mustafa Mamun, general secretary Rejwanuz Zaman Rajib were also present.
