Salahuddin admitted to hospital in Haryana

BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed, who has been in the custody of Meghalaya police in India since last year on charges of trespassing, was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Haryana’s Gurgaon yesterday on court permission. Salahuddin left Meghalaya on Thursday and reached Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi around 4 pm. He was hospitalised around 10am, the BNP chairperson’s press wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed to The Independent. He has apparently been suffering from kidney complications and pain in the spinal cord. The Shillong magistrate court permitted him to visit Delhi on health grounds in reply to a petition he had filed. Ahmed was arrested by Shillong police on May 11 last year, two months after his family alleged that law enforcers had picked him up from his residence in Dhaka’s Uttara. After his detention, Salahuddin pleaded not guilty and claimed that some unknown people had brought him there after blindfolding him.
