Stock market closed yesterday in green, but all the indices and the weekly average turnover were down compared to the previous week due to cautious buying, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the last session of the week 26.72 points up at 4484.52, with the two selective indices following it to close higher. The DSEX, however, was 2.07 per cent or 94.73 points down compared to previous weeks close.
During the week, the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also lost 34.52 points and 28.86 points respectively.
The daily turnover was up at the close of the week, but the average daily turnover during the week in value was down by 28.02 per cent to Tk 322.92 crore and in volume by 19.14 per cent to Tk 8.38 crore shares.
Among the major gaining sectors were IT (6.68 per cent), service real-estate (1.92 per cent) and jute (1.70 per cent). The losing sectors were paper printing (-2.63 per cent) and general insurance (-2.03 per cent).
The top gaining companies of the week were Eastern Lub (39.9 per cent), GPH Isphat (22.7 per cent) and Gemini Sea (15.9 per cent). Conversely, the top losing companies were BD Lamps (-14.3 per cent), EBL (-12.0 per cent) and Sonar Gaon (-10.0 per cent).
All the market indicators at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the week yesterday in green, with the major CSCX gaining over 43 points to finish at 8383.52.
