Brahmanbaria: The Awami League on Wednesday suspended seven local leaders for embarking on the race in the upcoming union parishad election in different unions under Ashuganj upazila going nagainst the party will, reports UNB.
The suspended are Zia Uddin Khandaker, convener of the upazila unit of Juba League, Jakir Hossain Badal, member of the AL upazila unit, Moazzem Hossain Maju, former president of the unit, Qamrul Hasan Mobarak, member of the Araishidha union unit of AL, Tajul Islam, member of the Sharifpur union unit of AL, Abul Khayer, former vice-president of the Lalpur union unit of AL, and Badar Sadir, former general secretary of the Tarua union unit of AL.
District AL general secretary Al Mamun Sarkar confirming the decision said the party suspended the six as they started contesting the upcoming union election as ‘rebel candidates’ failing to get nomination from the party.
