Satkhira: At least six people, including a chairman candidate, were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League over the campaign for the upcoming union parishad (UP) election in Khalilnagar of Tala upazila early yesterday, reports UNB.
Officer-in-charge of Tala Police Station Qamrul Islam said supporters of Sardar Raju Ahmed, AL rebel chairman candidate, attacked supporters of Pronab Ghosh Bablu, an AL-nominated chairman candidate for Khalilnagar UP, also its incumbent chairman, during campaign in the area at about 1:30 am.
Six people, including Bablu, got injured.
The injured were admitted to Satkhira 250-Bed Hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police forces have been deployed in the area.
