The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), yesterday, kept a case of the war crimes suspect, Forkan Mallik of Patuakhali, waiting, so that it can deliver its verdict any day.
After concluding hearing on the closing arguments placed by the lawyers for both the prosecution and defence, the three-member ICT-2, led by its chairman, Justice Obaidul Hassan, kept the case CAV (Curia Advisari Vult, a Latin legal term meaning that the verdict could be delivered anytime).
Forkan is facing five charges of crimes against humanity committed during the nine-month Liberation War in 1971, in Mirzaganj in Patuakhali.
Abdul Hamid of Shoulabunia of Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali had lodged a case against Forkan, with Mirzaganj police station, on July 21, 2009.
After conducting a primary investigation into the case, police sent it to the Patuakhali district and sessions judge’s court.
