Freedom fighters of Chapai-nawabganj formed a human chain yesterday demanding monthly allow-ance of Tk 10,000 for all freedom fighters irrespective of their age. Several hundred freedom fighters and widows of freedom fighters of the district took part in the human chain programme arranged under the banner of the district command of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad in front of the deputy commissioner’s office.  Recently, the government has decided to raise the allowance from Tk 5,000 to Tk 10,000 for the freedom fighters, who have reached 65 years of age.
