Nagina Zoha, wife of late Language Movement hero, Liberation War organiser and former lawmaker AKM Shamsuzzoha, passed away yesterday at the age of 81, reports UNB. Nagina, also mother of AKM Shamim Osman, MP, and AKM Salim Osman, MP, had been on life support at United Hospital in the capital from Saturday night due to old-age complications. Physicians at the hospital removed her life support around 1:10pm today. Born in 1935 in Kashem Nagar in undivided Bardhaman district, Nagina married AKM Shamsuzzoha in Narayanganj in 1951. She later participated in the Language Movement in 1952. Nagina Zoha is survived by two sons -- Shamim Osman and Salim Osman, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death. Her son Nasim Osman, also a lawmaker, died on April 30, 2014. Her second son Salim Osman is an MP from Narayanganj-5 and president of BKMEA and her younger son AKM Shamim Osman is an MP from Naranyanganj-4 constituency. Nagina was buried by her husband’s gave at Masdair graveyard in the evening after a namaz-e-janaza at Khanpur in the city.
