Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told the Jatiya Sangsad that some 2,967 posts have remained vacant with postal department. “Of the total vacant posts, 64 are first class, 31 second class, 1,927 third class and 945 fourth class,” he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member Golam Dastagir Gazi in the House yesterday, reports BSS. The minister, also in charge of the Post, Telecommunications and ICT Ministry in Parliament, said the recruitment of staff is an ongoing process and the process for appointing the first class and second class officers is underway through Public Service Commission. Besides, the ministry has been failing to recruit the fourth-class employees in the department due to a writ petition pending with the High Court, Oabidul Quader informed the House. He said the government has taken measures to appoint manpower to the postal department against vacant posts for improving its services.
