Sk Jamal aim to upset Filipino team

Sports Reporter

Shafiqul Islam Manik, head coach of the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club believes that his team’s success is completely depend on the players’ motivation when they will play their AFC Cup home match against the Ceres La Salle of the Philippines today.
The match will kick off at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 6pm.
Sheikh Jamal and Ceres La Salle, both the teams will play their second match but the latter have some advantage as they drew their first match and the hosts began their campaign with a defeat in their opening match.
However, in a pre-match press meet yesterday, despite having so many lacking and shortage of preparation he was expecting to win the home match, but the players would have to be motivated and concentrate on their game.
Manik in his address to the media just started with explaining about the inadequate preparation of the team –“Our preparation is not good enough, I think our preparation is inadequate among the four teams. We went down to  Singapore’s Tampines Rovers and tried hard for survival, but couldn’t, due to few silly mistakes committed by the forwards.”
“But we thought of utilising the short time before the home match to take the best possible preparation but due to circumstances like by this time national team’s call-up and other domestic affairs we just failed.”
About the idea of the opponents Ceres La Salle, Manik said, “We requested the BFF to provide some video footage of Ceres La Salle team but did not have any and we watched few Youtube videos, which are not of good quality. So it has been really tough getting information about the opponents.
Replying to a query about their target, Manik said, “ Definitely target should win the match. But we haven’t got the full effort from the players yet. If they could give full effort then we should think in a positive way.”
Manik has no any major injury problems in the teams. “All the players are almost okay, there are a few little issues, but nothing serious. Everyone is in good condition to be picked for the match.”
Acting head coach of Ceres La Salle FC Frank Muescan thinks it was an opportunity for them playing in the AFC Cup.  He has great respect to home team Sheikh Jamal, as he said, “The first game we played at home ground against Selangor Malaysia, and we played well. Played with much possession, and proved that we can beat any team at this level. We highly respect the opposition because they are the home team and assume that they are pretty prepared and that they will be stronger than the last match.”
