Strive for world-class knowledge, says Nahid

UNB

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday stressed the need for utilising local knowledge and expertise to address various problems that the country is currently facing, reports UNB.
“There is no other way to achieving world-class knowledge to sustain the era of globalisation,” he said while addressing the concluding ceremony of Unesco Participation Programme held at Banbeis Bhaban in the capital.
Admiring Unesco for taking steps to conserve the country’s cultural heritage, Nahid said new generation must be protected from the aggression of what he termed ‘satellite culture’, by practicing local and indigenous cultures.
Five projects, being implemented with financial support from Unesco, were presented during the function.
