A businessman, who received bullet injuries while trying to resist a group of robbers from looting jewelry shops at Miar Haat area in Kalkini upazila early yesterday, died at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Monday noon, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Swapan Kazi, 30, a businessman of the area.
Kripa Sindu Bala, officer-in-charge of Kalkini police station, said a group of robbers, numbering five-six, stormed into three jewelry shops in the area around 2am and looted about 30-35 tolas of gold ornaments.
As the locals tried to resist the robbers, they opened fire, leaving Swapan Kazi bullet injured.
The injured was whisked off to Sher-e-Bangladesh Medical Hospital in Barisal where he succumbed to the injuries around 12:30pm.
