Shibir man held for derogatory comments on PM

Police arrested an Islami Chhatra Shibir activist from Bagha Mazar area of Bagha upazila yesterday on charge of making derogatory comments about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook, reports UNB. Officer-in-charge of Bagha Police Station Ali Mahmud said they arrested Rakibul Islam, son of Kalim Uddin of Amodpur village of the upazila and a first year student of Shahdoula Degree College, at noon. The arrest was made following the allegation lodged by local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists that Rakibul posted a derogatory comment on a photo of Prime Minister smiling while watching the Bangladesh-Pakistan cricket match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. A case was filed against him under the ICT Act, the OC added.
