Referring to recent incidents of attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj sought swift action by the authorities against the perpetrators of the crimes. She raised the issue during a bilateral meeting with her Bangladeshi counterpart Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Wednesday, said a press release posted on the website of the Indian External Affairs Ministry on the same day. In response, Foreign Minister Ali assured that government of Bangladesh was conscious of the importance of checking the activities of radical forces in the country and expressed the commitment of his government to safeguarding Bangladesh's secular, progressive and liberal character, said the release. Foreign Minister Ali visited New Delhi from March 1 to 3 to participate in the first edition of the Raisina Dialogue organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation.
