RANGPUR: The present government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, puts special importance on spreading female education in building a developed Bangladesh through joint efforts of both males and females, reports BSS.
State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga said this at prize distribution ceremony of the annual sports competitions of Salema Girls High School in the city on Wednesday afternoon as the chief guest. "The process of development and national advancement would be accelerated further if the country's womenfolk, half of the total population, properly educated and their equal participations in all sociopolitical and economic activities ensured," Ranga said.
He said both male and female students should become physically stronger and mentally sound through regular practice of sports and exercises side by side their studies to focus the nation both at the local and international levels, he said. Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated the competitions by hoisting of the National Flag amid singing of the National Anthem by students of the reputed educational institution in the morning. With Chairman of the School Governing Committee Shah Mohammad Selim in the chair, Councilor Hafiz Ahmmed Chhuttu for Ward No-24 of Rangpur City Corporation attended the function as the special guest.
Member of the School Governing Committee Maloy Kishore Bhattacharya, social workers Director of Northern Medical College Kanak Kumar Lal and Alhaj Shamsul Alam also spoke.
